Johannesburg, South Africa: The Mampeule Foundation, the founding donor of the Global Surgery Foundation (GSF) and a leading South African non-profit organisation committed to global health, education, rural development, and tertiary bursary support, successfully hosted an exclusive social engagement bringing together international and local business leaders ahead of the 2025 G20 Johannesburg Summit.

The event, held at Waterfall City’s Munyaka Lifestyle Estate, one of South Africa’s most celebrated examples of modern urban development, created an important platform for dialogue on collaboration, investment, and the role of partnerships in advancing economic and socio-economic growth.

Among the distinguished guests were Member of Parliament and President of EFF, Julius Malema, South African entrepreneur, Rob Hersov; Founder and CEO of Balwin Properties; Steve Brookes, comedian and entrepreneur, David Kau; social entrepreneur and businessman, TT Mbha; Chairman of McKinsey’s Africa region Acha Lake and other prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Rali Mampeule, Chairman and Founder of the Mampeule Foundation, said:

This gathering provided a valuable platform for entrepreneurs and business leaders to connect and strengthen relationships that support economic and socio-economic growth. I am also proud that it marked another milestone in the Foundation’s efforts to raise awareness about our work in global health, education, rural development, and tertiary bursary support, inspiring greater involvement from the leaders in attendance.

As a founding donor of the Global Surgery Foundation, the Mampeule Foundation contributes to expanding access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical care in low- and middle-income countries. Through this and other strategic partnerships, we continue to advance equitable health outcomes and uplift vulnerable communities worldwide.”

Mr Elkhair Malik Balla, Senior Executive: Investor Relations at Invest Qatar, who represented the Qatari delegation who came to South Africa for the Qatar Africa Business Forum 2025 expressed his appreciation, saying: “We are very excited to be here. It’s a busy time in Johannesburg with the G20 and so much happening. The overall message is that Africa is the future, and I’m fortunate to be in a country that always thinks long term. We thank our hosts, Rali, Makentse, and the entire Mampeule Foundation, for putting this together. We’re here for a few more days, and many people from this event will also be at the Qatar Africa Business Forum 2025 where we will continue engaging with them. Thank you for having us, and we look forward to spending more time here.”

Former African Development Bank presidential candidate, Swazi Tshabalala, who was also present at the event, gave an inspiring account of the relationship she has with the Mampeule Foundation. “My relationship with Rali and Makentse Mampeule goes back many years, and I have been fortunate to witness the incredible work they have done through the Mampeule Foundation,” she said. “Many young people have been able to graduate and enter the job market through the Foundation’s bursary scheme. There are children in rural communities who can now attend school and participate in extracurricular activities because of the Foundation’s commitment and impact. I truly applaud you for the work you do in developing the future stars of this country.”

The Mampeule Foundation remains committed to fostering partnerships, driving development, and promoting innovative solutions that improve lives across South Africa and beyond.
