Johannesburg, South Africa—This November, Manor and EMPIRE are partnering up to present a celebration of South African dance music. ‘CAN YOU FEEL IT?!’ is an audiovisual experience in the form of a living dance floor and gallery, embodying expressive visual translations of South Africa’s sound and style.

CAN YOU FEEL IT?! is a phrase that echoes through clubs, festivals, and street-bashes across South Africa: a chant that has united generations on the dance floor. This pop-up celebrates the culture of South African dance music, from Gqom and Amapiano to 3-Step, Afro-House and Afro-Tech, with artists ushering the movement today. It’s a tribute to the sounds, movements, and emotions that have shaped the nation’s identity and captivated the world.

Here, sound and sight merge through self-taught artist Sinalo Ngcaba, whose Afro-surrealist paintings radiate themes of Black joy, connection, and perseverance, blending motion and emotion for a sensory experience that brings the pop-up to life. Sinalo will also debut a collaborative merch collection, created for and inspired by EMPIRE’s artists, available exclusively during the pop-up.

Co-produced by Wholesome Baddie and curated by Manor at their project space in 44 Stanley, beats and brushstrokes collide as EMPIRE and Sinalo Ngcaba present a creative reflection of South African dance music: an expression of rhythm, culture, and community that transcends sound.

The pop-up will serve as an exclusive tastemaker listening/release party for upcoming releases from EMPIRE’s dance roster, marking the pop-up as a launchpad for fresh sounds and collaborations. Be on the lookout for the pop up programme which includes the artist lineup and their upcoming releases.

Sinalo Ngcaba is a South African artist and creative visionary born in East London (SA) and currently based in Johannesburg. Known for her vibrant, bold, and sometimes humorous Afro-surrealist work spanning digital and traditional media, Sinalo’s art radiates themes of Black joy, connection, and perseverance. Her portfolio includes extensive contributions to music and cultural spaces, creating artwork for festivals, events, and musicians worldwide.

She has collaborated with major brands and artists, including Nike South Africa, Spotify Africa, Apple Music, Daily Paper, Converse, Yussef Dayes, and various African artists. Her work has been showcased globally in Paris, London, Los Angeles, Lagos, Accra, Miami, and at the Cape Town International Art Fair. Sinalo’s creations have been featured in prominent publications such as WePresent, Hypebeast Africa, Mail & Guardian UK, Native Magazine, and The Sunday Times’ Wanted Business Magazine, solidifying her as a key voice in contemporary Black culture. Through her art, Sinalo continues to celebrate creativity, connection, and cultural vibrancy on a global scale.
